Commission a custom piece of art
On this page you will find information about my commission process along with a form to submit if interested in having a custom piece built.
Make contact, make a plan
To start, send a message via the contact form below describing what you are looking for.
When we have a plan, I will put together a contract laying out expectations and our plans for the piece.
Fifty percent of the estimated price is paid up front as a non-refundable deposit.
I will also provide an estimated timeline.
Made with your input
For floral pieces, we will discuss what types of flowers you would like included.
I offer to hide paper replicas of items that are important to you in the petals and leaves of floral works. For example, the piece above has several small animals hidden throughout.
You have the option of tracking the progress of the piece while it’s made via photo updates. Some clients opt for this, others like to wait and see the piece upon its completion.
Art that resonates with you
It is important to me that you really connect with the custom piece I’m making for you. With commissions, I am open to making works in color schemes, shapes, and sizes that are outside of my usual range.
I see many of my commissioned pieces as collaborative endeavors if the client would like to have some input. In this setting I strive to make work that people will want to live with for a lifetime and be able to pass on to loved ones. The input period takes place during the designing of the piece.
I make art to connect with others. An aspect of commissioned work that I value is not only having some of myself naturally imbued in the work, but also having some aspects of the client reflected with in the art as well.

FAQs
Pricing
Commissions start at 1000 USD. Price is dependent on the scope of the project, materials, and time spent. While I will provide an estimated price based on our plan as outlined in the contract, price can increase with changes in scope.
Clear communication is key and I will ask you to sign off on any changes to the price of the piece via email. (A change in price has only happened once in about twenty years of doing commissioned work.)
Shipping
I usually ship with DHL. The majority of my clients are based in North America. Shipments usually take under seven business days. Pretty wild to think that’s possible since I’m very much out in the Swedish countryside.
Depending on the receiving country, customs fees may be applicable.
Archival?
I have been making paper sculptures since 2007, nearly twenty years! In that time I have refined my materials and sculptural methods to make the work as archival and structurally sound as possible. The glue used is ph neutral, the papers acid free (usually cotton rag), and the paints are professional grade acrylic. Properly framed and protected from the elements, my work is built to last far beyond a lifetime.
Time frame for a piece?
Paper sculpture pieces take anywhere from three weeks to a number of months to design, construct, paint, and finish. Art takes time. In this day and age it does feel like things move so very fast. The work I make is steeped in care and attention to detail. Rush orders are accepted, but at a higher price.
Handling
I build a custom shipping container for each piece. Finished unframed pieces are wrapped in bubble wrap, boxed in a custom cardboard box with braces to hold the piece in place while in transport. I then build a second cardboard box, slightly bigger than the first. Spacers are cut and placed between the boxes. A good shake test happens and then shipping is arranged.
Actual framing
I do not offer frames at this time. It may sound strange. I live in the countryside and do not feel the best about my framing abilities. I am happy to make arrangements with the client and a frame shop of their choosing to have the piece delivered to the frame shop so the client can pick up the work ready to frame near them.
The deposit
The deposit ensures that the client is serious about the commission. The deposit also acts as a kill fee: in the case that the commission is rejected by the client (something I have never experienced) the deposit ensures that I am compensated for my time and labor.
