I have returned to the Evergreen State! While overseas I brought limited supplies and created a series of plant based illustrations. Upon my return I decided to open a little print shop. The art is a bit of a departure from what I am usually showing here. I enjoy mixing it up. (More paper-cut reliefs will be made in 2015) So without further ado, here is my new shop: Marrow and Leaf
...to all who participated in the art sale this past weekend! It was a great success. Especially big thanks to Ashley Newcomer for her help in building this website and the site page.
For the next few months I will be running around Stockholm and Paris, taking in museums and making new work. I hope to return with a fresh outlook on my art and where I'm headed with it. You are welcome to follow me on instagram and tumblr.
I'm having a huge art sale this coming weekend to shake things up a bit and to press the reset button. I'm looking to clear some space and make way for things to come.

"I find it compelling that some of the things we find beautiful and otherworldly can be so harmful to our well-being. Of Marrow and Leaf is a collection of cut paper pieces that explore the beauty of deadly plants in conjunction with the human figure. My intention is for these images to evoke a sense of memento mori, the notion that death is constantly present. While the fragility of life is not a revolutionary idea, I value taking pause to reflect on this simultaneously vital and lethal fact."

I dropped the ball. I usually do my annual print giveaway at the end of the year, but the end of 2013 brought a change in residence and an upheaval of the studio. No worries, as the new studio is shaping up nicely. For those of you not familiar with my print giveaway every year, I give out 50 prints as a thank you to all of you that have supported me over the past year. This is open to everyone. Don't be shy!
Here's how the print giveaway works:
Be one of the first 50 people to email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and mailing address. Easy peasy. Don't forget to include your mailing address, which I'll need so that the print can find its way to you. Prints will be of a piece of art I select and will be sent out in the next two months.
